Cocoa Butter (also known as cacao butter) is a natural, cream colored vegetable fat extracted from cocoa beans during the process of separating the powder and liquor from the bean. Our Cocoa Butter is carefully processed to maintain its purity and natural properties.

Manufacturers Recommended Usage: 2 – 90% . Use in Creams, Lotions, Balms, Make-up Foundations, Soaps and Hair Products.

When adding butters to creams and lotions, it might be necessary to gently warm in a heat-proof  jar on low heat or  in a bain marie (To preserve its nutritive properties) before incorporating into the final product. As with most raw materials, results may vary, we strongly recommend small batch testing prior to any commercial manufacturing.

Common Uses/Benefits

Cocoa butter generally has a soft, sweet cocoa aroma and it is one of the most stable fats known. It is used to moisturize skin that has been exposed to the elements, and to keep skin supple. It makes a wonderful ingredient in lotion bars, lip balms, body butters, and soaps. Cocoa Butter contains natural antioxidants that prevent rancidity. This butter is crude, so very hard in consistency, and its natural range may comprise a light to darker colour, and a medium to stronger scent like a strong bitter chocolate.

Caution: Overheating this product will impact its fragrance. Please melt at low heat, preferably in a bain-marie, while stirring gently, and use as soon as it is melted.

Recommended Storage: Body butters are ideally stored in a refrigerator to maintain its texture. It will become soft in warmer temperatures. Store in air tight containers; in a cool dry area; away from direct sunlight.

Shelf Life: Typical shelf life is about 18months when stored properly. store in cool temperatures (below 25 °C) away from light and moisture in an air-tight container. The product may become liquid above ambient temperatures (e.g at 36 °C), but will re-solidify upon cooling without affecting functionality.
